Jennifer Hayes ( nee James and Evans as I was at this time) with a precious memory of St Michael's.
I had had a difficult period in my life and my only refuge was to live and work in a hotel, with my son, in Shropshire. I suppose I was close to being destitute and the life we had was not a good start for my 5 yr old son. Ann Murphy, (Collison) was my long time school friend. I was pleased that Ann got in touch and we spoke of then and now as you do. Not long after I was contacted by Liz, saying I could come home to Huyton. Liz turned up in her car and moved us back to Huyton where, to my amazement, Liz and her mum, Capt Rourke and the rest of Huyton Parish Church had found and fully furnished a flat for us on Essex Road. I will never forget the kindness of all involved and the feeling of having a secure and lovely home. It made a great difference to our lives and gave us a new start. I was able to attend CF Mott and trained to be a teacher. The rest is history as they say, but that history couldn't have been made from where we were then - I shudder to think what would have lay ahead for us. So, once again, Thank you Huyton Parish Church!
